What is MCC?

Malaysian Citation Centre (MCC) is set up by Ministry of Higher Education's (MoHE), inline with the MoHE’s aspiration to improve Malaysian university ranking by improving the quality of Malaysian publications especially scholarly journals. MCC would be the one-stop centre that would help internationalize Malaysian journal publications, making their contents accessible globally and indexed locally by MyCite as well as proposing their indexation by international indexing agencies such as Scopus and the ISI (Institute of Scientific Information) databases.

What are the functions of MCC?

  • Coordinate, monitor , integrate & strengthen standards of scientific publication process towards creating a rating system of scientific issues
  • List & evaluate all scientific issues systematically Malaysia
  • Provides an online database for the ' bibliographic control ' scholarly publications Malaysia for open access
  • Record the collection of scientific intellectual property issues
  • Integrate, manage & disseminate information listing the scientific issues of the country. PSM is responsible to collect, monitor, coordinate and improve the standard of scientific journals publishing in Malaysia through the Malaysian citation Index System ( MyCite ) .

How do I get to MCC?

Q: How to get my journal listed in MyJurnal?
A: Please send an email to

Q: Can I get full text of an article from MyJurnal? If the full text is not available in MyJurnal, how can I get it?
A: Yes, only for journals that allow MCC to list their full text in MyJurnal. MCC only uploads the articles after getting the consent of a journal. If the full text is not available, kindly look for the contact information in the Journal Information page and contact the Journal Editor for the full text.

Q: How do you handle the copyright issue for full text in MyJurnal?
A: If journals’ publisher does not allow their full text to be displayed in MyJurnal, we do not upload the full text, we only index the metadata.

Q: I am a publisher and I don’t provide open access to my journal, therefore I do not want my full text to appear in MyJurnal, and how do I go about it?
A: Please inform us about the journal policy at the point of request/submission whether it is open access. MCC will not upload the full text if a journal is not open access.

Q: I cannot submit my manuscript to a journal listed in MyJurnal, how do I go about it?
A: Not all journals listed in MyJurnal are using the MyJurnal system to process the submission.  Please go to Journal Information page and look for ‘Alternate site’ to read more about the submission method.

Q: How does MyJurnal help to increase the visibilities of my journal?
A: MyJurnal has a total of more than 10,000 visitors per month (according to the Google Analytics report). Besides that, those journals that are performing well will be submitted to other National Citation Databases like ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) and Islamic Citation Index Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC). This is hoped to increase the visibilities of a journal.

Q: My journal is already indexed in Web of Science, is it compulsory for me to send my journal to MCC?
A: MCC collects and indexes all the Malaysian journals regardless it is indexed or not in international database. It is advisable to send your journal to MCC.

Q: How long will it take to see my journal listed in MyJurnal from the day of submission to MCC?
A: One month.

Q: I have signed an agreement with international publisher, is my journal consider Malaysian journal? If my journal is listed in MyJurnal, will there be a copyright issue?
A: It is depends on what is stated in the agreement with the international publisher. The journal have to advise MCC.

Q: Can I use MyJurnal as online submission and peer reviewing system to process my manuscript?
A: MCC does provide Open Journal System for the editor to process the manuscript online. Please send an email to request to use the Open Journal System (Journal Management System).

Q: I noticed there are some missing issues for my journal, what shall I do?
A: Please email MCC to inform about the missing issue. Kindly send us the digital copy of that issue (or the URL of the missing issue) to


Q: What are the differences between MyJurnal and MyCite?
A: MyJurnal : A database consists of articles published in Malaysian journals.
MyCite : Extracts bibliographic data from the articles indexed in MyJurnal and produces bibliometrics report based on journals, authors and publishers.

Q: How do I get my journal indexed in MyCite?
A: Journals that meet MyCite Journal Selection Criteria will be automatically indexed in MyCite. Kindly inform MCC if you want your journal to be indexed in MyCite and we will evaluate the journal and let you know if there is any improvement to be made. Journal evaluation period : One month.

Q: My journal is listed in MyJurnal but I don’t see it is listed in MyCite, why is that?
A: The journal does not meet MyCite Journal Selection Criteria. Please view the criteria here.

Q: The citations in MyCite for my journal represent what?
A: The citations of a journal represent the number of times the articles from that journal being cited/quoted in other articles from the same journal, or other journal(s).
The citations are counted based on articles indexed in MyCite itself, from the same journal, or other journal(s).

Q: When the journal citation report of last year be published in MyCite?
A: MyCite Citation Report of previous year will be published in August of the following year.

Malaysian Journal Management System(MyJMS)

Q: I want to use MCC’s Journal management system to process my journal, how do I apply?

Q:The publisher for my journal is an association, is my journal eligible to use the system?
A: Yes, as long as it is a Malaysian association.

Q: The publisher for my journal is a private university, is my journal eligible to use the system?
A: Yes, as long as it is a university located in Malaysia (or Malaysian Campus)

Q: The publisher of my journal is a public university in Malaysia and my university already has a journal management system. Is my journal eligible to use the system?
A: It is encouraged for the journal to use the system provided by the university, however if there is a valid reason, MCC will consider the request.

Q: Do I have to pay to use the journal management system provided by MCC?
A: Currently, the service is provided free of charge for all the journals in Malaysia.

Q: If my journal use the system, who will upload the articles into the system?
A: The journal’s editorial office is responsible to upload the articles into the system. Training will be provided by MCC’s team.

Q: How if I forgot my password?
A: Retrieving your password is a three-step process:

  • Request a New Password: click the "Log in" link at the top of the navigation bar or on the sidebar, click the "Forgot your Password" link on the following page, enter your email address, and then click on "Reset Password".
  • Check Your Email and Confirm Your Request: You then need to check your email inbox for a confirmation email which asks whether you did indeed request your password to be reset. When you click the link included in the email, you will be taken back to the journal in question, and the system will email you a new password.
  • Retrieve New Password and Log In: You must then recheck your email for the password that has just been sent to you. It will have been automatically generated; you can use it to log in and then reset your password to something you can more easily remember. The system will automatically ask that you fill in a new password.

Q: I have been processing the journal’s peer review through email. I have all the materials in digital form, is there any way I can get the articles into MCC’s journal management system?
A: For small numbers of submissions you can use the Expedited Submission Process. For large amounts of content, you might want to use the Articles & Issues XML-based import plugin. Both functions are available in the system.
